Yay! My Lost in a Forest sofa found a new (temporary) home! It's currently located at the wonderful PetersburchGallery in Edam where it's exhibited every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. It's in a lovely place and in great company of other amazing works so you should totally check it out if you're in the neighborhood!
Mirjam, Jaap and I visited the Let's Swim To The Moon pop-up shop opening in Utrecht's oudegracht this monday, and it was absolutely wonderful! Everything was beautifully decorated with lights and vintage materials and they did such a great job displaying my stuff. I feel so very blessed I got to join! So again, all you dutchies should totally visit (while you still can! It ends this saturday!)! It's a great place to buy beautiful handmade and vintage christmas presents by cool talented young people who will all greatly appreciate your support :) you can see all participants here or the facebook event for more information here.

P.S. Yes! That indeed is the handpainted sofa I did for DAC and it's stiiill for sale! *wink wink nudge nudge*
So, there it is. The finished sofa! And it still feels weird to not be working on it anymore.
I painted this sofa for Dutch Art Collaboration, where it is for sale and they will exhibit it on several occasions as well.
Dutch Art Collaboration brings the vision of modern artists into contact with objects from the past. Old craftsmanship often seems to be lost in our modern society because of our changing values and priorities. Instead of preserving antiques, we continue the creative process that our ancestors once have begun and present a redefinition of functionality and aesthetics. Dutch Art Collaboration is always on the lookout for artists who are able to bring back life to faded glory. Besides our main products, we also offer independent works from artists we work with. We value and support modern art as much as we respect and praise the hard work and creativity of our predecessors.
I loved working on it and it really is a great concept which I glady contributed to. And YES! You can actually sit on the thing! I'm sure I spammed you all to death with it but you can see all progress pictures here on tha blog or on our facebook page.
I also made these tote bags below to match the sofa. They are made with thrifted fabrics which I handdyed and handpainted. The bags are also entirely double stitched and lined with the same fabric so they are very sturdy and can handle a lot! But are obviously not made to carry around your brick collection.
Last progress post on the DAC sofa, because it's finished! The DAC-dude came to pick it up this friday. It's just so weird that it's out of my hands now... So! Just one other post awaits, the final sofa! DumDumDum.
Excuse the crappiness of the pictures and the mess that is my workspace. I wish I had taken the time to take some actual decent pictures that would do the thing some justice. Ah well.
Not much going on on tha blog because I do nothing but work on the DAC sofa, but it's finally coming together now. I made some crazy mistakes which cost me a few extra days but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I miiiight even finish it in time.
Excuse the crappiness of the pictures, I have been working such long hours that I could not take decent pictures with nice daylight etc. I can assure you, it looks a lot better in real life!
