Shrimp City - January Films

The Boyfriend School A.K.A. Don't Tell Her It's Me (1990): Already the best film of 2012! Watched it with Anne on New Years Day. ♥ ♥ ♥

The Hangover (2009): I normally never watch these kind of comedies (just not my genre), but I was surprised by this one, 'cause I actually kind of enjoyed it! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

The Great Mouse Detective (1986): Brilliant Disney film that I hadn't seen yet. This is from my favorite Disney era, I just love the drawing style and the music. Reminded me a bit of my favorite Disney film, The Rescuers (L) This was so much better than that BBC Sherlock thing! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Ouwehoeren (2011): Amazingly funny and very interesting documentary about Dutch female twins who work as prostitutes in the Red Light District. They were such brilliant, typically Amsterdam characters. And they wore matching outfits all the time! Love it!! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Superbad (2007): Another one I wouldn't normally watch, but I'm trying out new stuff. This film was the most awkward film I watched in ages. I just felt so embarrassed for everyone in the film the whole time haha! But I love awkwardness so I enjoyed it as well! ♥ ♥ ♥

Terry Pratchett's Hogfather (2006): My husband has been telling me for ages to start reading Terry Pratchett's books, and oh my do I regret not listening to him after I've seen this. Amazing story, amazing film!! I just love it when writers create a world of their own, and this world was so very interesting and fascinating and I can't wait to read all the books! I especially loved Death, so funny :') ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

The Gruffalo (2009) & The Gruffalo's Child (2011): Apparently the stories of the Gruffalo are well known tales for English children. I'd never heard of them, but watched the films on BBC and loved them both. The animation-style is very cute and the stories are as well. Really enjoyable. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Grave of the Fireflies (Hotaru no haka) (1988): Early Ghibli film set during the American attacks on Japan during WOII. Very impressive, and beautifully made. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

The Assassination of Jesse James (2007): Interesting film, I loved the overall feel of it. A bit too long at times, but that's not too bad. ♥ ♥ ♥

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007): Not the best HP film, but I like it. Hate what they did with Umbridge though, I think she is way too flat a character in the film. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009): I was really disappointed when this film came out, because the book is very good, but in the film they just crammed everything into 2.5 hours and it didn't work at all. But, it's still HP and I love watching it nonetheless! ♥ ♥ ♥

X-Men: First Class (2011): Very nice to see how it all started. Nice movie, though I didn't really like the whole WWII-references (a bit too easy for my taste). But I do love to watch Kevin Bacon! ♥ ♥ ♥

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 (2010) and part 2 (2011): By far my favorite HP films. Love these films so so much. (yes, I put a Rupert Grint picture in all these HP screencaps on purpose). ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Avatar (2009): I really don't like the story of this film at all, but I think the CGI is pretty nice and I just love the overall look of the Na'vi world. Sometimes I just watch movies because I like the way they look :) ♥ ♥ ♥

Thor (2011): Kind of a weird movie. The whole Thor-world was very sci-fi, which I felt clashes with the real Norwegian myth. Story was a bit lame, but overall (just like Avatar I guess) it did look very nice (it had a rainbow road!). ♥ ♥ ♥

Whip It (2009): I watched this film after I just handed in a paper, and it was exactly the right kind of movie. Very funny and entertaining. Really liked it! & Jabba the Slutt made me laugh so hard :') ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Day of the Dead (1985): Not my favorite out of the series, but still nice to watch. It was a bit bland in the middle, but there were some awesome scenes at the end to make up for it! ♥ ♥ ♥

You don't have to watch these: Terug naar de Kust / The Dark House, Scoop, Carnage.

The Boyfriend School A.K.A. Don't Tell Her It's Me (1990): Watched this with Mirjam and Ben on New Years Day. Best and worst film at the same time. ♥ ♥ ♥

Labyrinth (1986): Have seen this a trillion times and will watch it a trillion more <3 And if I were ever to get married I would want to wear a dress like this. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

The Cell (2000): If it wasn't for the whole cliché hollywood cop thing it would've ranked VERY high in my Top 10 Films Of All Time. The AMAZING dreamworld weighs up to it though. Love this film and I don't even care Jennifer Lopez plays the lead role. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

X-men (2000): X-meeen! I'm not that much of a X-men-fan (:D!) but I do really enjoy the films. ♥ ♥ ♥

Honey, I Shrunk The Kids (1989): Yup. I love this kind of silly 90's movies. ♥ ♥ ♥

X2: X-Men United (2003): Yes! Fav X-men film! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Bridesmaides (2011): Not my kind of movie but pretty entertaining. I may have chuckled a bit on more than one occasion. ♥ ♥ ♥

Dinner for Schmucks (2010): I find this movie funnier than I want to admit. But come on, the Mousa Lisa? That's pretty hilarious. Plus Jemaine Clement is SO AWESOME. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Merlin (1998): One of those films (I'm choosing to ignore the fact that it's actually a mini series so I can feature it here) I watched over and over when I was in my fantasy-fase. I loooove the story plus fairies and dragons and a young Helena Bonham-Carter. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

The Fly (1958): SO GOOD!!! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Let Me In (2010): Watched the original last month and this is almost an exact copy, just a very American version. It was pretty alright and Chloë Grace Moretz is great actress but the original is like 1000000 times better. ♥ ♥ ♥

Alice In Wonderland (1951): I never realised this was so old before. I like. Beautifully drawn and great character design. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

The NeverEnding Story (1984): Some lazy sundays just ask for The NeverEnding Story. I love it a little more every time I see it (I love it A LOT by now). ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter (1990): This isn't as bad as you'd think it is. The fist one is so much better, yes, but this isn't crap either. ♥ ♥ ♥

Frankenstein (1931): This is just so cute! I like Bride of Frankenstein better though. ♥ ♥ ♥

Point Break (1991): I like Anthony Kiedis, OKAY?! ♥ ♥ ♥

Piranha (1978): Awesome. So many stupid jokes and those piranhas are friggin' hilarious. Plus this is so cute and innocent compared to the 2010 remake which consists mostly of pumped up boobs, booze and blood. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Death Becomes Her (1992): Dark but funny 90's films with plastic heads, count me in. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971): This film almost hurts my teeth. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Jaws (1975): Okay, I know I'm probably going to get shot over this, but Jaws really isn't as good as I remember it? Hmm. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it. But it may be a bit overrated. ♥ ♥ ♥

Horrible Bosses (2011): I have been in a pretty weird mood lately so I just watch stupid movies or movies I have seen before. This movie was pretty awful but it made me laugh. And I just really like Charlie Day. And Kevin Spacey. ♥ ♥ ♥

50/50 (2011): So funny and só heartbreaking at the same time. Well, mostly heartbreaking. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

You don't have to watch these: Darkness Falls, Couples Retreat, Hot Tube Time Machine, Leap Year,
